National Tournament 2023 What to Expect | National Speech & Debate Association Day-by-Day Breakdowns Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Sunday For high school teams beginning competition on Monday, registration will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Phoenix Convention Center on Sunday, June 11. This is a great opportunity for students who have gained experience on the team and who are interested in pursuing more national circuit competition. We meet on Mondays (August 21- end of April) . The Middle School Awards Assembly occurs in the late afternoon and the week ends with the high school National Awards Assembly Friday evening where our national champions are crowned. To be eligible, they must have completed their junior or senior year of high school and have 250+ Honor Society points. The bulk of the competition will take place Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 7 and 8. Scholarships earned at the National Tournament can be claimed after Nationals by graduated students who have enrolled in post-secondary school after the tournament via the National Tournament Scholarship Claim Request Form.
